TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN PARK
For just 15 to 20 minute away by boat from Kota Kinabalu City,
the marine park of Tunku Abdul Rahman Park a cluster of islands
comprising Pulau Gaya, Pulau Sapi, Pulau Manukan, Pulau Mamutik, and
Pulau Sulug. The good variety of marine life can be found here such
as scorpion fish, blue –spotted rays, cuttlefish, mantis shrimps and
occasional green or hawksbill turtle.
SIPADAN ISLAND
Island of Sipadan is a most popular diving site and rated as
the world’s top dive sites. Surrounded by sandy beach, Sipadan is an
oceanic island where it was formed by living corals growing on top
of an extinct undersea volcano, which rises 600 m from the seabed.
Turtle tomb, an underwater limestone cave with a labyrinth of
tunnels and chambers that contain many skeletal remain of turtles
that became disoriented and then drowned.
MABUL ISLAND
Popularly known to the world as the best “muck diving” site,
Mabul Island is just 15 minute by speedboat from Sipadan Island. Its
offer divers the flamboyant cuttlefish, blue-ringed octopus, mimic
octopus, gobies and frogfishes, and bobtail squads where it can be
seen everywhere, as are moray, snake eels and practically the whole
scorpion fish family.
TIGA ISLAND
Tiga Island or recognized as “Survivor Island”, are the island
which comprising Pulau Tiga, Pulau Kalampunian Damit (Snake Island),
and Pulau Kalampunian Besar. A rich variety of marine life can be
seen including nudibranchs, bamboo sharks, cuttlefish, marbled
stingray and of course, a visit to nearby Snake Island guarantees
sightings of banded sea snakes.
